A shocked expression appeared on his face, eyebrows high, almost spitting out the small mouthful he had just taken.

Jerrick was staring blankly at the large expanse of desk in front of him.  It was littered with various pieces of paper, post its, memos and other flotsam that served to remind him he was way behind on his caseload.  Picking up one reminder after another, reading it but not taking it in, then setting it back down and selecting the next, he sighed heavily.  He loved his job, often spent hours...(click for a little more)

Brief examples of a selection of stories

The old adage 'In space no-one can hear you scream' passed through his mind as he worked. The dim glow of the lights set into the faceplate of his helmet reassured him that he was in no danger of running out of air, that his suit integrity was perfectly fine and that the magnetic plates set into his boots had more than enough contact with the metal hull. He would not be floating off into the abyss today...(click for a little more) 

Darkness. Well, almost. If it weren't for the soft glow of the LED lights set into the various pieces of equipment in his modestly sized apartment, and of course the non-stop, relentless passage of traffic past his 73rd floor window, it would have been dark. But it passed for night, and the taxis and private vehicles slid by silently enough, the inches of plexisteel serving as an efficient method of soundproofing. The soft burble of his terminal broke the quiet of the night, its dull luminescent glow...(click for a little more)
